The two concepts developed revolve around the theme of connection. With ARTE’s mission of bringing together Europeans through culture and entertainment, they have set themselves up like a hub of sorts—a one-stop destination for relevant news, art, culture, and history. So I wanted to play with this idea of centrality, making ARTE the central network connecting many different parts, from many different places.
Concept A:
My initial ideas revolved around the image of a map. We start with an extreme close up as a colored “travel” line dashes across the screen. We start zooming back, seeing more definition of the map as the travel line crests a ridge (fold). At the end, we see the multitude of data lines merging and coloring the ARTE logo. The logo is defining itself with this data, so the color intensifies within the characters as it fades slightly the further away is recedes out on the map.
Concept B:
A natural extension of the networking idea took shape in the concept of data networking. Looking at microchip designs, processors, etc.,
these beautiful lines act as synapses for data delivery. We start with a close up of one of these data lines, the information denotes by the brightly illuminated head. It zips up and out of frame. We zoom out to see a multitude of these little lights all moving quickly in the same direction. Ahead, we can glimpse the logo where they are meeting up. At the end, the logo is illuminated by all of the bright lights surrounding it.
